Excel Electric was proud to partner with Wight Construction as the electrical contractor for the Oakton Sports Complex in Park Ridge, Illinois. This extensive community project revitalized and expanded one of the area’s most recognizable recreation sites, transforming it into a modern, year-round destination for athletics, tournaments, and community gatherings.
Project Overview
The redeveloped Oakton Sports Complex features multiple all-turf fields with dugouts, warm-up areas, and spectator zones, as well as upgraded support facilities including restrooms, concessions, and meeting spaces. In addition to the new outdoor amenities, the project included a complete renovation of the existing ice arena—updating the mechanical system, flooring, and lobby while preserving the building’s iconic wooden beams. The improvements modernized the facility for enhanced accessibility, comfort, and efficiency while maintaining its familiar architectural character.
Excel Electric’s Role
Excel Electric provided full electrical infrastructure for both the new sports complex and the renovated ice arena. Our scope of work included:
- Power distribution systems for fields, buildings, and site amenities
- Installation of high-performance field and area lighting
- Electrical service for concessions, HVAC systems, and mechanical upgrades
- Integration of lighting and power systems within the renovated ice arena
- Coordination with Wight Construction and other trades to ensure seamless integration and on-time project delivery
These electrical systems provide the reliability and efficiency required for a facility designed to host both everyday recreation and large-scale events.
