Project Description
Excel Electric is proud to contribute to the construction of the DuPage County Health Department Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) — a $25.8 million, 33,000-square-foot facility designed to expand behavioral health crisis services and provide a safe, therapeutic environment for residents across DuPage County.

Project Overview
Located at 117 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton, and connected to the Linda A. Kurzawa Community Center, the CRC represents a major step forward in DuPage County’s long-term effort to build a comprehensive, accessible behavioral health system. The facility is the first of its kind in Illinois to provide mental health crisis services for both youth and adults.
The center serves as a hub for crisis response, offering immediate care triage for individuals and families experiencing mental health or substance use challenges. Designed with a focus on dignity, respect, and healing, the CRC provides a welcoming space where individuals can stabilize, connect to care, and receive ongoing support tailored to their needs.
Excel Electric’s Role
Excel Electric provided the complete electrical infrastructure to power this state-of-the-art behavioral health facility, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Our work included:
- Power distribution and lighting systems for the 33,000-square-foot facility
- Electrical service integration to support critical care equipment and building systems
- Coordination with construction and design partners to ensure seamless installation and code compliance
- Implementation of energy-efficient solutions to support long-term operational sustainability
Through our work, Excel Electric helped create the foundation for uninterrupted, dependable power — a critical factor for a facility dedicated to round-the-clock care and crisis stabilization.
Community Impact
The Crisis Recovery Center serves as a single point of entry for individuals, families, and first responders seeking help during behavioral health crises. With capacity to serve up to 42 individuals at a time and approximately 15,000 people each year, the CRC provides an alternative to hospital emergency departments and helps reduce the strain on law enforcement
Excel Electric is honored to be part of this transformational project — one that strengthens community health, enhances safety, and ensures that when residents need help, there is “someone to call, someone to respond, and somewhere to go.”
