Excel Electric is proud to play a key role in the expansion and renovation of the DuPage County Animal Services facility—an ambitious $13.5 million project designed to enhance animal care, improve staff and volunteer spaces, and create a more welcoming environment for the community.

Project Overview

This transformative project includes new and renovated spaces that support the shelter’s mission to provide the best possible care and outcomes for animals. Key improvements include expanded outdoor dog runs, upgraded kennels, a new cat gym, “real-life” rooms for dogs, and dedicated areas for small animals. The facility also features a state-of-the-art medical suite with designated prep, surgery, and recovery areas, as well as multipurpose community rooms for education, adoption events, and training programs.

To ensure continuous, reliable power for critical operations, Excel Electric installed a CAT 300kW 120/208V standby diesel generator system, complete with site excavation, concrete duct banks, and an equipment pad. This system provides vital backup power to support the shelter’s medical equipment, climate control, and lighting—ensuring animal safety and comfort even in the event of an outage. Excel Electric is honored to contribute to this project alongside a team of dedicated partners, helping create a space that not only enhances animal welfare but also strengthens the community that supports it.
